Experiences of Religious Tradition in America.
[ send me this paper ]
(10 pp) According to Anna-Liza Kosma (2001),
"spirituality is like jello. It comes in every
imaginable flavor, it's almost impossible to pin
down, and your definitions will only last until it
morphs into another shape." On the other hand,
"sociologist Wade Clark Roof (2000), teaching at
the University of California, does come up with two
categories for the slippery world of contemporary
spirituality: seekers who pursue meaning by
sampling a smorgasbord of dishes, and dwellers who
feast from a singular table." In this discussion
we will be looking at those who "feast from a
singular table," and if anything have chosen to
"host" that table as well. Included in this
discussion will be the first hand accounts as
provided in The Chosen by Chaim Potok, Black Elk
Speaks by John G Neihardt, and Mama Lola by
Karen McCarthy Brown.

Feminism and Judaism
[ send me this paper ]
This 6 page report discusses the fact that
as feminism has become a more commonplace mindset in the past
several decades, traditional interpretations of various aspects
of culture, including religious beliefs, have evolved in ways
that acknowledge and accommodate a feminist based understanding.
Judaism is no exception. In fact, a feminist reinterpretation of
traditional texts combined with exploration of historic women's
religious practices has created a new Jewish spirituality for
women with new rituals and beliefs. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Harry Blamires' "The Christian Mind : How Should A Christian Think"
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. According to Harry Blamires, author of The Christian Mind : How Should A Christian Think, the global resurgence of religion that occurred throughout the past few decades served as a platform for fundamentalist interpretation with regard to religious scriptures. It is the author's contention that this reawakening has been instrumental in a significant distortion of traditional religious interpretation. As religion has become globalized over the past three decades, it has taken on a decidedly different façade: that of what is contrary to all it has represented in the past. Herman Hesse’s “Siddhartha” and the Lessons of the River
[ send me this paper ]
This 5
page report discusses Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha, first published
in 1922 and translated to English in 1951. The river serves as
an important teacher in Siddhartha’s life lessons and
awarenesses. The single theme of the novel is Siddhartha’s
search for unity, which is identical with his search for the true
